What is New Student Orientation? New Student Orientation is an exciting, "one stop shop" designed for beginning college students to meet TSTC faculty and staff, to be informed of services and policies, and to register for classes. Due to high demand for technology training, please register for earlier Orientation sessions to get your first choice of classes and availability. If all technical sections in a desired degree plan are not available, students can choose to focus on available academic, technical, and interdisciplinary classes. When is Orientation:
Where is Orientation: South Building Room 515 What happens at Orientation? New Student Orientation begins with an overview of TSTC services and policies to help you make an easy transition to college life. This is your opportunity to receive important information about the admissions process, financial aid, business office procedures, housing, library, distance learning, the learning community and learner support services. Most importantly, New Student Orientation provides the opportunity for you to meet one-on-one with your mentor and advisor. You will receive information about your degree plan, the courses required, and available degree-specific career opportunities. This orientation is mandatory for all new students at TSTC; new students will not be allowed to register for classes unless they attend orientation. There will also be an Orientation for Parents on the same day at the same time. Registration for Classes Due to high demand for technology training, please register for earlier Orientation sessions to get your first choice of classes and availability. If all technical sections in a desired degree plan are not available, students can choose to focus on available academic, technical, and interdisciplinary classes. After meeting with an advisor to complete your schedule, you will register for courses, take ID pictures and make payment arrangements. Classes fill up quickly; reserve your place at orientation today to get the classes you need and the best schedule possible! What are the requirements to attend Orientation?
What about testing requirements? Placement test scores must be received by TSTC before a student can be advised and/or registered. If you have not tested, there is opportunity to take the Alternative THEA (Accuplacer) on the Marshall campus. The fee for the Accuplacer test is $30.00. For more testing information or testing dates, contact Admissions and Records at (903) 935-1010. If you have any questions regarding New Student Orientation, feel free to call or email:
